Charles Delano Epperson, Sr., age 80, died peacefully at his home in Lanexa, Virginia, August 2, 2017 with family by his side. Charlie was born in Williamsburg and was the son of Willard S. “Sonny” and Eleanor Thomas Epperson. He retired as a Staff Sgt. from the VA Army National Guard following 25 years of service. During those years, Charlie was a panel operator at NIKE Hercules Missiles site near Patrick Henry Airport. He attended Faith Baptist Church on Rochambeau Drive, in Williamsburg. Charlie was an avid hunter and a member of Head Hunters Hunt Club in King William County where some of his happiest times were spent. In addition to his love for the outdoors, he had a true passion for fishing and enjoying the beautiful rivers of the area. He was a great cook and will be remembered for his homemade cakes and breads. Stepson, Jeff Shinn, sister, Mildred Warren and brother Willard Epperson preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ginger; son, Charles Epperson, Jr.; granddaughter, Samantha Smith and husband Matt; 2 great-grandchildren, Trent and Whitley; sisters-in-law, Carla Edds and husband Wayne; Mary Graham and husband Gary, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and others who are family by love. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road Williamsburg, conducted by Pastor Bobby Collins and Pastor Alan Norbutt. The family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment will be private.
