Betty Jean Westfall Otey, 82, a longtime resident of James City County, died Monday, April 23, 2012. . She was a former member of Smith Memorial Baptist Church and currently York River Baptist Church. She had been employed as a cashier for the Williamsburg Pottery for 22 years. But the love of her life was her family, enjoying crab-feasts and spoiling all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Sterling Otey, Sr..

She is survived by:

Joanne Black & husband John,

Joseph S. Otey, Jr.,

Raymond Otey,

David L. Otey & wife Brenda,

Clarence Otey,

Nina Garret & husband Melvin,

Richard ìRickyî L. Otey & wife Jamie;

3 sisters:

Dorothy Hicks, Marlene Hazelwood, and Nancy Ross;

19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren also survive.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 11:00am in the Bucktrout of Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Williamsburg memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the JCC/Bruton Volunteer Fire and Rescue, PO Box 321, Toano, Va 23168.
