Allen Ray Turner, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 24, 2023, in Lanexa. Allen dedicated his life to serving others and making a positive impact in his community.
Allen’s career was marked by a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He worked as a Building Official for James City County and also served as an instructor for “Electrical Master’s License” Recertifications and as an Elevator Inspector. His vast knowledge and expertise were greatly appreciated by those he taught and worked alongside.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Allen had a deep passion for various outdoor activities. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, paddleboarding, kayaking, and fishing. He was also a die-hard Cowboys fan and took great joy in cheering them on during each game.
Allen actively contributed to his community and church. He served as a Code Making Panel Member for the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) for numerous years. Allen’s dedication extended to coaching little league for approximately six years, where he proudly led his team to victory in the 1999 Little League Tournament. Additionally, he played a vital role on the production team for Liberty Live Church.
Allen leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Carol Turner, and their son, Justin Turner, and his wife Shannon Turner; his sister, Renee Spruill; Allen’s grandchildren, Faith Turner, Austin Turner, and Jackson Turner. He also had life-long special friends, Kevin Coates and Larry Baranowski.
Services honoring Allen’s life will be held on September 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Liberty Live Church, York River Campus. A reception will follow the service, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather and remember Allen’s remarkable life.
Allen Ray Turner will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. Memorial donations may be made in Allen’s name to Liberty Live Church.
