Alice L. Friedrich, 90, of Williamsburg, passed away on January 8, 2019. She was born in Hayward, MN to the late Martin and Marvel Lysne. She was one of ten children that consisted of nine girls and one boy.
Alice attended Albert Lea High School and then went on to study at Northwestern Medical School in Minneapolis, MN. After graduating she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI as a Medical Technician and then Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Va.
Alice was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Annandale, VA for 35 years. She was an active member of King of Glory Lutheran Church for over 20 years, where she would make calls to the newest visitors attending the church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and traveling the world, visiting more than 50 countries worldwide. She was a lifetime member of the Naval War College Foundation and the Navy League of the United States.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Edith Guritz, Marjorie Thompson, Doris Wayne, Rebecca Medd, Sara Lunde, and Rachael Lysne. She is survived by her husband, Albert H. Friedrich; sons Randall A. Friedrich (Mie Yanase) of Mulberry, FL and Dr. Jay B. Friedrich of Richmond, VA; sisters, Grace (Gerald) Skaar of Albert Lea, MN and Ruby Armstrong of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Maurice (Henrietta) Lysne; and grandchild, Allen B. Friedrich of Phoenix, AZ.
A memorial service will be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
